12/20 points. 1999 Left Bank, Beaujolais Villages. Price $1.99 at Trader Joe's. Here's another amazing value from Trader Joe's. Bing cherry red in color, the nose is slight with nuances of wood and raspberry. In the mouth, it's got decent levels of strawberry, sour cherry, and barnyard (faint!). The body is rather thin and the finish is short, but for 2 bucks I just can't complain, besides it's got a silly label as well!

13/20 points. 1999 Baron Herzog, California Cabernet. Price $7.99 at Safeway. Very dark red in color. Nice nose of dried cherry, cassis, and wood. In the mouth, the cherry flavors turn towards sour with undercurrents of licorice and hints of rubber? The finish brings out the oak found in the nose. My wife picked this up at the market at 1/2 price, which I think is more in line than the original $15.00 price tag.

A message from the Wine Slob - Sorry I have not been doing more reviews. We have been having a stressful holiday season so far. Had some wind/rain damage to our home around the first and have been dealing with the insurance company ever since. Hopefully, everything will straighten out soon and I can get back to doing my reviews more often.
